Before you sign the dealer's finance paperwork

Dealer finance is convenient — but it's one lender's offer, priced at the point of maximum convenience. A broker compares that offer against a panel of lenders before you commit.

Compare, don't accept

We benchmark rate, fees, balloon and term across bank and non-bank lenders — including against the dealer's quote if you already have one.

Structure matters

Chattel mortgage vs lease changes ownership, GST and tax treatment. We line up the structure with your accountant's advice, not the dealership's.

Private sales welcome

Buying from a private seller or at auction? Many lenders finance private-sale vehicles — dealer finance can't help you there at all.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a business car loan?

Where a vehicle is used predominantly for business purposes by an ABN holder, it can generally be financed as business-purpose credit — most commonly a chattel mortgage. Vehicles for mostly personal use are consumer credit and assessed differently; tell us your situation and we'll point you the right way.

Can I finance a used car or a private sale?

Yes. Many lenders finance used vehicles and private-sale purchases. Vehicle age at the end of the loan term affects lender appetite — older vehicles may mean shorter terms or fewer lenders.

What deposit do I need?

Many business vehicle loans are written with no deposit for established businesses with clean credit. Newer ABNs or older vehicles may require a deposit or additional security. This is assessed case by case.

What is a balloon payment and should I have one?

A balloon is a lump sum due at the end of the term that lowers your regular repayments. It suits businesses that upgrade vehicles regularly, but the balloon must be refinanced, paid out or covered by selling the vehicle. Whether it suits you depends on cash flow and plans — we'll model both ways.

How fast can I get approved?

For standard vehicles with an established ABN, many lenders offer fast-tracked assessment — approval within 1–2 business days is common, sometimes same-day. Complex situations or older vehicles can take longer.

Can a new business get vehicle finance?

Some lenders consider ABNs under 12 months, particularly for common vehicles like utes and vans. Assessment is more conservative and may need a deposit or director guarantee.

Is the interest tax deductible?

For genuinely business-use vehicles, interest and depreciation are generally deductible in proportion to business use — but tax treatment depends on the structure and your circumstances. Confirm with your accountant; we'll structure the loan to match their advice.
